Coined Planet Janet by Guy Rundle over at Crikey, Ms Albrechtsen is, as we all know, also a board member of the ABC. A self declared right wing idealogue posing as journalist and exercising the power to influence bequeathed to her by little Johnny, Janet, unlike the stereotypical disgruntled leftie journo, Margot Saville, can crack a smile and manage a genuine little titter in mixed company when the legendary PJ O’Rourke comes to town.
I watched PJ at the National Press Club, he was doing a good impression of a used car salesman trying to confuse humor with some libertarian philosophy so that you might buy the line that socialism is the greatest threat to humanity we have ever faced. Janet would have lapped it up, maybe Humor should have featured more prominently in the new ABC Values Culture, instead of the rather dry and unfunny notions of Integrity,Respect, Collegiality and Innovation.
I’m sorry Janet but 10 years of Little Johnny and Co turning this country into a neoconservative playground have just about exhausted my capacity to laugh along with right wing apologists like O’Rourke, you on the other hand can probably afford a few laughs.
